Hybrid Print Workflows Offered By New Software
Xitron's latest release of its Navigator GPS, with RIP Manager 3.3 and Navigator RIP 7.2.1 has just been made available.
The new release is claimed by Xitron to offer users enhancements and increased capabilities, including hybrid workflow functions for on-demand digital output devices and enhanced job search functions in the RIP Manager client for Windows and Macintosh systems.
The company added that the new release embodies the new Enfocus pre-flight library supporting Pitstop 7, together with producing enhanced output device communication for greater feedback on output status to the operator.
In addition, it features the latest RIP core technology from Global Graphics Software.
Xitorn said that the system's hybrid workflow capability provides connectivity to Prism, Xitron's short-run digital colour output device.
Users have the ability to control print functions, such as duplexing, tray selection, print count and paper type directly from the Navigator GPS client software.
Reducing the need for an operator to leave the workstation to perform tasks increases productivity and reduces common errors workflow automation, added the company.
Users with a high daily volume of jobs, or those who retain jobs online for re-runs will benefit from the enhanced search function, said Xitron.
The search locates matches in the job name, job number and any text in the custom fields such as status.
This release of the PDF Tools option is compatible with Pitstop 7 and contains new built-in action lists that automate the fixing of colour issues commonly found in documents submitted by customers.
A new universal printer plug-in, which is claimed to add the ability to drive virtually any printer with a Windows driver, is available as an option for use with this release.
The new plug-in allows users to take advantage of existing printers and multi-function devices already in use as additional concept or text proofing devices.
The universal printer plug-in is, in addition to the proofing plug-ins, offered for Epson, HP and Canon inkjet printers.
The Epson, HP and Canon plug-ins provide colour managed output for contract proofs.
The RIP Manager application of Navigator GPS provides a workflow for use with virtually any Harlequin Windows-based RIP version six, or above, said Xitron.
In addition to the basic job management capabilities, including the ability to support up to 10 simultaneous operators and control three different RIPs, a PDF Tools options incorporates automated creation of PDF files from Postscript and pre-flighting based on the Enfocus PDF software library.
R Patrick French, vice president of sales and marketing at Xitron, commented: "We are pleased to offer these enhancements to our users.
Navigator GPS allows even the smallest shop to add a high quality, production oriented workflow to their pre-press operation.".
