Software Answers Printers Needs Handling XPS Files

A Xitron product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 5, 2007

Native XPS files can now be supported by Xitron's Navigator GPS 8.0 software.

All new Navigator GPS or Navigator GPS upgrade orders dispatched by December 27 will receive a complimentary upgrade to Navigator GPS 8.0 when it becomes available in 2008, added Xitron.

Navigator GPS 8.0 is said to provide new capabilities that feature native support for XPS 1.0 files and PDF 1.7 files, as well as multi-thread rendering to take advantage of dual and quad core processors, as well as the system being compatible with Windows Vista.

For new Navigator GPS orders, Xitron said that customers could add a choice of either the Simple Imposition in-RIP imposition option, or the vDot-II proofing plug-in for Epson 4800, 7800 or 9800 systems with a starter roll of Xitron's X1 inkjet proofing substrate.

R Patrick French, vice president of sales and marketing at Xitron, said: "Printers are beginning to express concern about handling XPS files.

Navigator GPS 8.0 addresses this concern with native support for XPS 1.0 files.

We want Xitron Navigator users to feel confident that the purchase they make today, will prepare them to receive XPS files from their customers in the future.

We are pleased to be one of the first Global Graphics Software OEMs to offer software to support XPS files for our users.".
