Xante has announced the next release of its colour imaging software - Ilumina Digital Color Press.

Xante has announced the next release of its colour imaging software - Ilumina Digital Color Press.

The Ilumina is designed for short-run on-demand colour printing on heavy papers up to 427gsm (24 point cover).

It is claimed to handle a variety of jobs from lightweight flyers to heavyweight postcards at speeds up to 2,000 sheets per hour, claimed Xante.

The Ilumina Digital Color Press handles paper weights from 64gsm to 427gsm (17 lb bond to 24 point cover).

The straight paper path ensures all the heavy sheets are flat and easily finished.

The first sheet off the Ilumina is sellable with zero make-ready and users need only print the amount needed, thereby controlling job costs, claimed Xante.

The Ilumina comes standard with colour management controls.

The print driver provides a path to control colour through ink simulations, colour matching modes and colour profiles.

Also included is Colourmatch 2 software, which offers more in-depth control over monitor, scanner, source and destination colour profiles.

Robert C Ross Jr, Xante's founder and chief executive officer, said: "The Ilumina Digital Color Press is our fifth colour product since first entering the colour print market in May 2000 at Drupa.

With the Ilumina we've taken on-demand colour printing on regular and heavy paper to the next level.

This digital colour press is designed for the user who runs jobs on a daily basis and expects quality graphic output.

The Ilumina offers flexibility and control, a more productive workflow and a comprehensive solution in their budget.

We're raising the bar for the four-color press at a reasonable price.".
