Xante Corporation's Ilumina colour digital press has received a five star Macworld UK rating.

Macworld UK awarded the rating because of Ilumina was adjudged to be, 'extremely versatile, fast and easy to use with unparalleled heavy card handling'.

The Ilumina is one of six products nominated for the Macworld awards editors' choice in the print imaging category.

The winners of the 2006 awards will be announced on June 29 at a ceremony at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

The Ilumina is said to be designed for short-run colour printing on heavy papers on weights up to 427gsm.

It is capable of running all types of jobs from premium four-colour business cards, postcards, direct mail pieces and brochures, to in-store signage, added Xante.

The printer's straight paper path ensures the heavy sheets are flat and easily finished, said the company.

David Fanning, a writer for Macworld UK, commented: "If you are looking for a robust and extremely versatile colour laser this one is hard to beat.

Its high-end specialist features are more than you would find on most domestic or office printers, making this ideal for short-run printing without going down the litho route.
