Violet Metal CTP Systems Highlight At Convention

A Xante Corporation product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Jul 10, 2007

Xante's VM CTP systems (formerly RIPit) two-up and four-up violet metal CTP systems will be spotlighted at the 30th PIP/Sir Speedy annual convention and vendor show.

The VM systems are claimed to provide reliability, productivity and quality for commercial offset printers.

The VM series features an OpenRIP Symphony workflow system that is said to image violet metal plates at 2,540 dots per inch (dpi) and 200 lines per inch (lpi).

Xante's OpenRIP Symphony, an Adobe PostScript 3 RIP that features the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE) and multi-device workflow, is said to automate pre-press production and integrate scanning, trapping, proofing, and imposition in a single package.

According to Xante, OpenRIP Symphony drives every output device, including platesetters, imagesetters, laser printers, digital colour presses, copiers, inkjet printers and plotters for workflow consistency.

OpenRIP Symphony improves productivity and reduces human error by automating the most tedious and error-prone pre-press tasks.

Xante will also show Platemaker 5 at the event.

It is a pre-press system with the ability to produce polyester plates, film and paper proofs and is designed specifically for small commercial printers and print shops in need of a low cost, chemical-free CTP system, said the company.

The system provides improved halftones and tighter registration for the two-up portrait press marketplace.

Xante commented that its Z7 technology ensures clean plates, crisp film, sharp images, high line screens, accurate registration and exact halftones.

Z-Dot technology allows for more control over dot gain, whilst also enabling photographs and screens to be imaged smoothly with 356 shades of gray (150lpi).

Z-Dot also enables halftone screens to be controlled and for tints and graduations to have smoother, more consistent output than before.

Also on the Xante stand at the show (stand number 107) the Ilumina digital colour press is claimed to handle paper from 75gsm - 427gsm.

It provides all types of jobs, from four-colour business cards to postcards, direct mail pieces and brochures.

The Ilumina produces 2,000 letter (A4) sheets per hour.

Xante's Speedsetter virtual drum imagesetters, which will also be seen at the Sir Speedy convention, are said to produce high resolution polyester plates and film for the quick printing and the small commercial print market.

The Speedsetter 300 and 400 series combine the qualities of a traditional drum imagesetter (accurate registration, repeatability and sharp, consistent screens) with the simplicity and cost of a capstan imagesetter.
