New Digital Printer Handles 75gsm - 502gsm Papers

A Xante Corporation product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Mar 5, 2008

The Ilumina 502 digital printer from Xante is claimed to handle a range of paper weights, from text to ultra thick cover, from 75gsm to 502gsm for mid-sized print shops.

According to Xante, the Ilumina 502 enables printing companies to make money producing short run, four-colour jobs on a range of substrates previously unavailable for digital printing.

Xante said that its customers will benefit from a range of output capabilities with the Ilumina 502, including four-colour business cards, postcards, t-shirt transfers, labels, direct mail pieces and brochures, as well as more specialised products, such as packaging.

Additionally, the Ilumina 502 digital press is capable of utilising a range of special, and in demand, substrates including such fibre-enhanced papers as textured canvas, sleek metallic, cast coated and magnetic stocks.

New Myriad Magnetic digital media from Xante, which is a flexible, rubber magnet digital substrate, is said by the company to be designed for short-run, full colour printing on the Ilumina 502.

Because it is not a paper-based material, Myriad Magnetic is said to be suitable for outdoor applications, such as magnetic signs on vehicles, decals and promotional signs.

The 0.05 mm thick material can also be used for promotional ideas on refrigerator magnets, magnetic photos and business cards, for example.

The magnetic media is available in letter, A4 and 13" x 19" sizes.

Xante's chief executive officer, Robert Ross, commented: "The Ilumina 502 is designed to help print shops significantly expand their products and profit from producing a wide range of short run, high-quality full-colour jobs, quickly and affordably.

From business cards to packaging, the Ilumina produces full-colour output on a variety of heavy stock and oversized media.

This eliminates minimum run-length issues and helps printers produce more jobs in-house." The Ilumina 502 will be featured at the Drupa 2008 exhibition in Dusseldorf (Germany) from May 29 to June 11.
