The north and Latin America debut of three new models in Xante's Ilumina press series will take place at the Graphics of the Americas exhibition, from 25-27 February in Miami, USA.

Xante has added the heavy-duty Ilumina Digital Envelope Press GT, Ilumina Digital Production Press GT, and entry level Ilumina GL 330 to the Ilumina series.

Also on display will be the Degrava DP 8500, described by Xante as an affordable and high quality, simple system for label and tag printing, as well as the Platemaker 5, a chemical-free, process-free, total pre-press system that images paper proofs, film and polyester plates.

The new Ilumina models come at a time when Xante has renamed the full range of Ilumina products, with GL signifying appropriateness for mid-volume shops, and GT referring to the more powerful processors and controllers driving higher volume applications with more demanding requirements.

Xante will also feature the free Iqueue Intelligent Colour Workflow system, which the company said is a multi-faceted content and production management product.

Several features include spot colour matching, screening control, independent CMYK control, full-colour management, flexible queue management, archiving and much better output quality, due to special screening technology.

The Iqueue Intelligent Colour Workflow system is also claimed to provide up to 25 per cent savings on toner cost due to the special screening, making it an attractive companion to the Ilumina series.

The two new higher-end Ilumina presses feature EFI controllers and a new platform supporting 1,200 dots per inch (dpi) x 1,200 dpi resolution.

Xante's chief executive officer, Robert Ross, said: 'We've broken through perceived barriers in the small to mid-size part of the market, bringing noticeably unique, high quality and reliability to quick print shops and smaller print providers with limited budgets.

The Ilumina GL 330 is a perfect example of this.

Now we're blurring the lines a bit higher up in the chain, making it possible for larger shops to produce excellent colour jobs quickly, at significantly lower cost than they have anticipated, with our more powerful GT models.
