Xplor International, the worldwide electronic document systems association, has announced its college and university membership programme.

Targeted at professors, teachers and students at college and university level, the programme is designed to expose those individuals to real world experience found through Xplor's association membership, educational media and annual conferences.

The programme is open to all graphic arts and printing departments within universities and colleges and it is initially being introduced in the USA.

Skip Henk, EDP president and chief executive officer of Xplor International, said: "Centres of higher education are often ignored by industry associations, whilst in fact educators and students are key to the industry at large.

Our programme will benefit all, from professors who will have access to industry leaders and information, whilst students can enhance their traditional education programmes with exposure to working professionals and member benefits." With effect from January 20, recognised departments within colleges and universities can take advantage of the new membership.

The annual membership fees will be US$250.00 and can include up to four professors, or teachers and an unlimited number of student members with the approval of their professors.

In addition, an individual or personal educator fee will be US$100.00 annually.

Xplor said that its higher college and university membership programme will provide access to Xplor's publications, including E-Document News and Xplorer newsletters, webinars and podcasts, research and whitepapers and participation in local chapter and regional events.

In addition, Xplor added that it will also provide two scholarships to the annual Document University that will include full platinum passes, valued at US$1,475.00 each.

The scholarships will also include airfare and hotel accommodation for four nights.

Scholarship applications must be submitted by the students, with the approval of their professors, or teachers and will be evaluated and awarded by the Xplor Conference Planning Committee.

Xplor also plans are to expand the number of scholarships as the programme expands.

In the near future, Xplor added that it will also be supporting university and college members to form chapters and programmes, meetings and networking events.
