X-Rite has announced that it will officially launch its new Slingshot colour management system at Drupa 2004 this May.

Designed for on-demand and prepress professionals, the system dramatically reduces the time and difficulty associated with measuring ICC colour management test forms.

In the single press of a button, the Slingshot high speed, X-Y automated scanner, is claimed to measure standard IT8 targets in less than three minutes, almost seven times faster than any other system on the market today.

Combined with Monaco profile generation and editing software, Slingshot helps streamline the workflow, delivering colour output in less time.

"X-Rite is focused more than ever before on addressing workflow challenges within each step of the printing process.

Faster, easier to use solutions, like Slingshot colour management, are part of a new wave of innovation at X-Rite," said James Weaver, X-Rite's vice president of marketing and product development.

X-Rite said that key product features include fast X-Y scanning, an auto-feed with target self alignment and patch recognition and an easy to use software profile editor for curve, global, and selective color editing.

In addition, there are user-controlled options and automatic calibration and it handles variable media sizes.

It will be available after Drupa.

The X-Rite stand at Drupa will be in hall 4, stand A61.
