X-Rite Aims For Drupa With Slingshot Colour System
X-Rite has announced that it will officially launch its new Slingshot colour management system at Drupa 2004 this May.
X-Rite announced what it believes to be an industry first for the pressroom - a one-step, self-contained method to evaluate colour quality and to generate ICC colour profiles.
Through the single press of a button, any press operator can initiate a fast color measurement from a linear CMS test form to create an ICC colour profile.
The company also has plans to introduce what it said would be the industry's first and only low cost upgradeable and portable spectrophotometer for the graphic design market.
Utilising the company's new, patented colour measurement technology the product is said to offer colour management for the initial phases of the workflow.
For the pre-press area and on-demand printers, X-Rite plans to introduce a new X-Y Autoscan Spectrophotometer, which would enable users to measure ICC colour management test forms faster.
Currently this process requires at least 20 minutes.
The new system will measure targets in less than three minutes claimed X-Rite.
Also included is a 'set it and forget it' mode, which only requires the user to place the test form in the Autoscan and push a button to begin operation.
