Colour Measuring System Spots Errors In Workflow
X-Rite's upgraded VipPaq in-line multi-channel densitometric colour measuring system has been made available by the company.
The unit is claimed to be simple to use, without a button, as users insert the chart and the system starts measurements.
The Isis is said by X-Rite to be a natural extension of the Eye-One product line and it is designed for colour professionals who need to measure many charts, or create ICC profiles in quantity.
The Isis is claimed to allow photo, pre-press and digital print users to fit colour management technology in to their workflow wherever needed.

Seminars Aim To Improve Colour Printing Workflows
X-Rite is providing seminars from November until February 2007 designed to help creative directors, designers, photographers and production managers unleash the power of colour.
Isis is available in two sizes, a standard version for A4+, or letter size and an XL version for A3+, or tabloid charts.
The XL model can read up to 2,500 patches printed on a single A3 page.
With the Isis, charts are fed automatically and misfeeds are corrected by a built-in optical alignment system.
The same system automatically recognises chart size and type and can scan barcoded charts for automatic chart identification, said the company.
X-Rite claimed that Isis can read 1,500 patches for both no-filter and UV-cut measurements within eight minutes.
The company added that Isis has been tested in its laboratories for thousands of hours, demonstrating failure-free operations for repeated cycles.
The new LED illumination of the system also means virtually no need for lamp replacements during the life of the product.
The Isis is also said to capture both UV-cut and no-filter measurements in the same cycle.
Based on Eye-One technology, Isis chart readers are claimed to offer near perfect agreement with other Eye-One devices, which makes it a suitable addition for remote proofing and other applications where measurement consistency is needed.
Isis is designed to be used with X-Rite's profiling software, including Profilemaker 5 and Monaco Profiler.
X-Rite said it has also made Isis easy for third party software makers to add support for Isis in their RIPs and other colour products.
An early user of Isis, Dieter Dolezal, the technical director of Hirte Medien-Service, a pre-press and media service house, said: "Our employees agree that the handling of the device during the measuring process gave the term ease of use a new meaning.
Both measuring speed and the option to handle test charts up to A3 has a very positive impact on creation times of proofer and press calibrations, colour characterisation data and multi-colour and multi-ink profiles.".
