Commercial printer Swiftprint has cut its production time of colour documents by up to two-thirds with a Xerox DocuColor 5252 as part of a product upgrade.

Commercial printer Swiftprint has cut its production time of colour documents by up to two-thirds with a Xerox DocuColor 5252 as part of a product upgrade.

The Huddersfield (UK) digital and litho company is using the new DocuColor 5252 to produce brochures, leaflets, manuals and point-of-sale documents for its customers among the local business community and local authorities.

Early estimates indicate that some jobs that used to take over three hours can now be completed in around one, dramatically improving productivity, aided by the machine's Fiery RIP XP5000, the first to be installed in the country.

The DocuColor 5252 adds to Swiftprint's existing Xerox presses, which include a DocuTech 6135, a Digipath and a DocuColor 3535.

"As well as its markedly improved speed, the machine has more capacity for stock and needs far less human intervention than our previous machine.

The quality of the colour is outstanding and the quick turnaround gives us more choice in the range of services we can offer our customers," explained Phil Earle, managing director of Swiftprint.

"Swiftprint's experience with the DocuColor 5252 shows that the improvement in quality, reliability and productivity of digital colour printing makes it a must for all printers to now consider in order to complement their litho capability," said Peter Taylor, director of graphic arts for Xerox UK.

"Digital printing enables commercial printers to offer cheaper, faster runs of a quality equal to that of the lithographic process.

Opting for the digital route means printers can improve workflow, productivity and, ultimately, profitability," he added.
