Workflow Solution Maximizes Print Production Capacity
Kirklees MC staff working for elected councillors can now access the print room electronically and order print jobs via their own PCs by selecting specially designed templates.
iWay also provides Kirklees with full workflow management tools for PDF workflow, pre-flighting, proofing and impositioning schemes and print room staff can now carry out advanced e-procurement tasks, such as automatic data merging for personalised documents and automatic job ticket creation claimed Xerox.

Xerox To Highlight New DocuTech At Drupa
Xerox Corporation has revealed details of its Drupa 2004 presence in May.
Freeflow is a platform of products, partners, standards and services that enables customers to make workflow faster and more responsive to customers.
Freeflow products provide a growing collection of Xerox software and hardware that the company claimed improves nearly every aspect of workflow in print production and uses open, industry-based standards, such as JDF, PDF, and XML that ensure inter-operability of Freeflow products with existing workflows and equipment said Xerox.
"This new Xerox software significantly reduces the need for print room intervention by allowing customers to easily self-proof and personalise their preferred design of document and send to print.
The printed documents are professional-looking and Kirklees can assure their customers that templates adhere to corporate ID standards across the authority," explained Steve Fowell, Xerox colour solutions analyst.
Early estimates indicate that some proofing and print jobs times have been reduced from between two-to-four weeks, to just two or three days.
The development has enabled Kirklees to save between £1,500-£2,500 per month and allow them to take on additional business.
"As well as our improved print turnaround, the Xerox software has resulted in increased productivity and a reduction in costs.
The feedback from customers has been positive mainly because it is so easy to use.
Our customers for example, can now order personalised items, such as business cards which contain a colour photograph, quickly and easily," commented Oliver Renshaw, print room manager for Kirklees MC.
The end of 2004 will see extended access to the remote print room throughout Kirklees MC for 6,500 PC users added Xerox.
