Xerox has embarked on a European tour to showcase the company's latest wide-format product launches and developments The Xerox Showliner Exhibition trailer will visit 30 cities in 12 countries over the course of four months to demonstrate wide-format products that are totally new or have only recently been announced to the market

For many customers, it will be the first opportunity they have to see the products under one roof at the same time.

The Xerox Mutoh Rockhopper II is a new product making its first public showing on the Showliner tour.

Although the 64-inch model is to be demonstrated, the machine is also available in 50-inch and 87-inch versions.

The Rockhopper prints with new eco-solvent inks that allow for printing on to low cost uncoated vinyl for outdoor longevity of up to three years said Xerox.

Xerox will also be unveiling new wide-format colour printers for indoor graphics.

It is the first time the printers, launched on October 1, will be shown since they were introduced at Graph Expo in Chicago.

The 60-inch and 42-inch six-colour machines can print at a claimed resolution of 1,200 dots per inch (dpi) x 600dpi with a claimed production speed of up to 20 square metres per hour dye or pigment inks with a rapid drying time.

The Xerox 6050 mid-volume monochrome printer copier system is a single footprint printer with an integrated scanner fitted with a choice of controllers, either AccXES enabled or embedded.

It comes with two or four media rolls and prints high quality images, up to 600dpi x 1,200dpi.

The 36-inch Xerox 2260ij entry level wide format colour CAD printer is desigend for four-colour or high-speed mono printing.

Xerox is using the Showliner tour to show how the machine can print at its claimed 18 square metres per hour in colour using a newly developed ink caddy system to improve the ink head life.

The Xerox 721 high speed monochrome printer copier system will also be on show, demonstrating its ability to print at 22 A1 pages per minute and its scanning speed of 7.5 inches per second said Xerox.

The machine also uses a toner recycling system to maximise toner usage and reduce running costs.

Richard Cloot, Xerox wide format and channel development manager said: "To showcase so many new products at the same time shows the tremendous efforts that Xerox has put into developing its wide-format infrastructure.

We are tremendously excited at the prospect of showing so many new products to such a wide audience on the Xerox Showliner." The wide-format products are also showcased with the latest software and hardware additions from Xerox's best-of-breed partners.

The AccXES Controller is a multifunctional web based management tool for the high speed processing of data files and is supplied with the drivers and client software for monochrome and colour scanning functions to the internet.

The Caldera high-speed colour RIP software is also demonstrated with its zero RIP time, RIP on the fly functionality.

It is used to support all Xerox printers and provides in-built editing and colour correction tools said the company.

The Showliner is also equipped with a choice of folders from three European vendors - Bay, Es-Te and Gera in both on-line and off-line versions.

All three-folder types can support all Xerox wide-format monochrome printers, and a range of colour printers.

Richard Cloot continued: "This year we have engineered and collaborated with partners to develop our continuing range of Xerox wide-format products.

We can demonstrate a range of allied products that can fit to purpose to get the very best performance level from the Xerox wide-format printer range." The Showliner sets off from the UK and will be visiting Norway, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

The Showliner, which will be returning to the UK in the first half of 2005, opens out into a self-contained unit with catering facilities, meeting rooms, reception area and a nie-metre x six-metre demonstration suite.

Xerox will team up with its distributors and associated dealers in all its European territories to offer a fully branded sales and support team at each event.

The Showliner will also be fitted with PCs and a Mac loaded with QuarkXPress, AutoCAD and MS Office to run customer applications and 'real-life' jobs to demonstrate the machines' capabilities.
