Xerox staff have signed on the dotted line to show their support for the London 2012 bid for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

Xerox staff have signed on the dotted line to show their support for the London 2012 bid for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games In the first stage of raising a total of 2,012 signatures to send to the International Olympic Committee, the body responsible for choosing the next host city of the 2012 Games staff has signed a petition, along with their families and their friends

The petition was presented to Olympic rowing silver medallist and London 2012 representative Alison Mowbray.

Xerox UK is an official supporter for London 2012 and has donated a number of printers to help produce the bid's internal and external documents in the approach to the final countdown to the nomination for the winning city on July 6 next year.

Xerox staff has also been encouraged to send in a passport sized photograph of themselves to make up a montage of images that will be incorporated into a printed design to show the faces that are backing the bid.

Carole Palmer, Xerox UK director of group resources and enterprise marketing said: "If successful it will be the first time since 1948 that London has hosted the Olympic Games.

The petition is just one small step to show our solidarity to the campaign.

The IOC is conducting independent research to determine the level of support that the bid has within the UK and London population so every show of support helps.

As an official supporter we are happy to do our part." London is facing stiff competition from Paris, Madrid, Moscow and New York for the 2012 event.

Xerox has been a supporter and official sponsor of the summer and winter Olympic Games since 1964.

In 1996 and 2000 Xerox sponsored Manchester's bid for the games and also helped to support Manchester's successful bid for the XVII Commonwealth Games in 2002.

The commitment to London 2012 also includes the loan of two networked Xerox document centres for mono printing, copying and faxing, together with a networked Xerox Docucolor 2240 at London 2012's headquarters on the 50th floor of the Canary Wharf Tower in London's Docklands.

Along with the paper and consumables, Xerox has supplied the personnel, consultancy and print management expertise across its whole range of services to carry out the print process, from design to completion.

Lord Sebastian Coe OBE, the chairman of London 2012 said: "The more registered support the bid has the easier it is to demonstrate to the International Olympic Committee the UK's support and passion to host the games in 2012.

This is the perfect opportunity in many areas and handling prestigious documents is one of them.

We are truly grateful for the support Xerox UK has provided.".
