CMP UK has bought three new Xerox Nuvera 120 digital production systems, becoming the largest Nuvera installation in the UK.

CMP UK has bought three new Xerox Nuvera 120 digital production systems, becoming the largest Nuvera installation in the UK Due to greater print demands, CMP initially ordered two machines and then bought a third specifically to fulfill its recent tender with Bournemouth University

Bournemouth University chose to outsource most of its printing services to CMP because it needed a service provider that could adapt with the university's plans for growth and one that could provide a cost-effective service.

In addition to printing, CMP is delivering and collecting prints and orders from four sites at Bournemouth University.

Barry Chapman, the purchasing manager at Bournemouth University, said: "We looked for a company that could cope with high-output demands and quick turn-around time and CMP fitted the bill.

We recognised that CMP had the reputation for providing the services we need for our campuses and ensuring a high quality product." CMP, a full-service digital printing company based in Poole, Dorset chose to upgrade its three Xerox Docutech systems with three Nuvera Pro 120s because it believes that the publishing systems, launched in September 2004, provide improved media capability such as the use of glossy stock, increased productivity and its 2400 dots per inch (dpi) imaging engine, which is claimed to be unique in the high end production market.

Paul Dawe, the managing director of CMP UK, said: "Buying the Xerox Nuvera machines is integral to our plans for growth.

The machines were installed very quickly and have been under a heavy workload from the start, hitting six million pages in two months, which is far beyond our expectations.

If our business continues with the same momentum, we will look to buy a fourth Nuvera by the middle of this year." Anoush Dowlatshai-Gordon, the director and general manager of the production systems group at Xerox UK, said: "With a growing number of customers demanding challenging service level agreements from their service providers, whilst still expecting value for money as well as high quality finished documents, it is a growing market.

The industry is having to respond quickly with providers like CMP, who are keen to grow and expand their businesses.

"With the upgrade to the Nuvera 120, CMP can now provide a wider and more flexible service option than before and what's more, with the modular design of the new Nuvera publishing systems it enables customers such as CMP to meet and exceed the intended 25 per cent growth projections in the mono market, as well as building on their current and future needs for an automated workflow.

We are also keen to be as closely involved as possible in integrating with CMP's plans for a new on-line printing facility in late summer," she added.

The Xerox machines are producing a variety of mono documents for CMP's customers, including technical production manuals and booklets and a range of short-run prints such as handouts, bound booklets, posters, leaflets and exam papers for Bournemouth University.
