Xerox DocuTechs Yield First Investment Fruits.
Xerox has unveiled the first results of a $400m investment to create the next-generation platform for black-and-white digital production printers, the Xerox DocuTech 100 and DocuTech 120 Copier/Printe
The mid-volume Xerox 6050 monochrome printer-copier system is a single footprint printer with an integrated scanner fitted with a choice of controllers, either AccXES enabled or embedded.
Launched at the end of 2004, it comes with two or four media rolls and prints images, up to 600dpi x 1,200dpi.
The 36" Xerox 2260ij entry level wide format colour CAD printer is said to be suitable for four-colour or high-speed mono printing.
Xerox is using the Showliner tour to show how the machine can print at a claimed 18 square metres per hour in colour using a newly developed ink caddy system to improve the ink head life, added the company.
The 721 high speed monochrome printer-copier will also be on show, demonstrating its ability to print at what Xerox claimed to be 22 A1 pages per minute and its scanning speed of 7.5" per second.
The machine also uses a toner recycling system to maximise toner usage and reduce running costs.
Richard Cloot, Xerox UK's wide format business manager, said: "To showcase so many new products at the same time shows the tremendous efforts that Xerox has put in to developing its wide-format infrastructure.
We are tremendously excited at the prospect of demonstrating so many new products to such a wide audience on the Showliner." The wide-format products will also be showcased with the latest software and hardware additions from Xerox's partners.
The AccXES Controller is a multifunctional web-based management tool for the high speed processing of data files and is supplied with the drivers and client software for monochrome and colour scanning functions to the internet.
The Caldera high-speed colour RIP software is also demonstrated with its zero RIP time, RIP on the fly functions.
It is used to support all Xerox colour printers and provides in-built editing and colour correction tools.
The Showliner is also equipped with a choice of folders from three European vendors - Bay, Es-Te, and Gera - in both on-line and off-line versions.
All three folder types can support all Xerox wide-format monochrome printers and a range of colour printers.
The Showliner will also be fitted with PCs and a Mac loaded with QuarkXPress, AutoCAD and MS Office to run customer applications and 'real-life' jobs to demonstrate the machines' capabilities.
Richard Cloot continued: "This year we have engineered and collaborated with best-of-breed partners to develop our range of wide-format products.
We can demonstrate a range of allied products that can customised to get the very best performance level from the Xerox wide-format printer range.".
