Mailing House's 400% Growth Down To Digital Print
MetroMail, one of the largest mailing houses in the UK, has taken its business to a new level as the company celebrates a 400 per cent growth in print volume in the last five years.
MetroMail, one of the largest mailing houses in the UK, has taken its business to a new level as the company celebrates a 400 per cent growth in print volume in the last five years, from 55 million prints to 220 million items per year.
The success has been gained largely as a result of its portfolio of Xerox digital printing presses and it has just added another four Xerox machines with a £600,000 investment, according to Xerox.
The new equipment includes three Xerox Docuprint 92C printing systems and one Xerox Docuprint 180 to bring its complement to 11 Docuprint presses.
Alan Purvis, the new managing director of Metromail said: "We decided to further invest in Xerox equipment because we knew we would get high quality products that could make us more productive.
This investment comes after sustained growth in the last five years including recruiting three new members to the team, which forms part of our strategy to maintain the best and most flexible service for our customers." Metromail, part of the Saga Group, which specialises in holidays and financial services for the over-50s, chose the Docuprint 180 because of its fast speed (180 pages per minute) and to reflect a growth in the insurance services business of Saga over the last year.
The company required a faster machine to print in-house insurance documents, which make up around one third of all printing at Metromail.
The company also needed a specialist green ink unit to fulfil a two-year government contract producing application forms, personalised forms and booklets.
The Docuprint 92Cs were selected because of the system's colour capability as a black-plus-one printer that produces halftones, tints and a variety of colour shades at 600 dots per inch (dpi).
Paul Stead, monochrome marketing manager for Xerox UK said: "Metromail invested in the Docuprint systems because it is familiar and confident with their capabilities and now the company is expanding its digital portfolio with a total of 11 Docuprints.
We are working with Metromail to ensure it benefits from the new technology to profit and achieve further growth to its enterprise, bringing its business to the next level.".
