Xerox's 4110 copier-printer, a 110 page-per-minute mono production system, has received a top five-star rating from Buyers Laboratory an independent document imaging research and testing firm.

"The Xerox 4110 offers outstanding image quality, ease of use and productivity at an excellent price point, when compared to competitive machines," said Ken Nardone, technical manager of field testing at Buyers Laboratory.

BLI conducts intensive competitive testing on office and production equipment, comparing overall performance, productivity and reliability among other critical factors.

The 4110, designed for the light production market, including small to medium-sized print shops and large offices, is said to average print volumes of 80,000 to 350,000 pages a month.

It is also claimed to have the fastest scanner in the light production market and allows customers to produce jobs as diverse as maps, booklets and direct-mail pieces.

And one user, Callprint, a full-service printing and document management company in London and the first UK company to install the 4110.

The company's operations director, Ian Locke, said: "When assessing our options, we felt that the 4110 was by far the machine of choice.

As soon as we started using it, we have found the image quality consistent on long runs, even at two point text size.

It has a fast and accurate scanner, with halftones better than we could expect.".
