Wide Format Printer's Quality Wins 5-Star Rating

A five-star rating in the 12th BERTL's best awards has been won by Xerox's 6204 wide format printing system, which was voted the best decentralised wide format system.

Aimed at customers changing from analogue to digital printing, or at those entering the wide-format printing market for the first time, the product was recognised by BERTL for a variety of customer benefits.

They included, according to the BERTL judges, exceptional copy quality, a compact footprint, the availability of an optional colour scanner and easy maintenance.

The Xerox 6204 system, launched in 2006, is a mono printing system available in either a printer or copier-printer configuration.

The 6204 is said to be primarily designed for architectural, engineering and construction companies and uses the latest Xerox imaging technology to provide claimed images at resolution of 600 dots per inch (dpi) x 600dpi.

Xerox recently introduced the 6204 with the Freeflow Accxes controller that is said to allow customers to use controller technology only normally used in Xerox mid-volume and high-volume machines.

The Accxes controller gives file format support, including direct processing for Autodesk DWF files, with high speed processing, claimed the company.

Kent Villarreal, BERTL director of workflow systems and wide format analysis, said: "The 6204 is a small machine but it packs a big punch.

It is well suited to the technical printing market, especially where space is limited and where printing and copying on-demand is necessary on a daily basis.

Its copying and scanning options make it a true multi-function system." The BERTL awards recognise innovative printing devices, software, utilities and product lines over a range of categories.
