New Digital Press Runs Regardless Of Paper Weight
The availability of three print operation modes on a job-by-job basis forms the basis of Xerox's new Docucolor 7000AP digital press.
Xerox claimed that the Docucolor 7000AP's flexibility ensures the highest level of productivity and versatility for the type of application, media or paper weight running through the system.
The company added that an 'all weights' mode enables the press to run all stocks at a claimed 70 pages per minute (ppm) regardless of media weight and type and gives the output a matte appearance.
The system's 'single weight' mode varies the speed of the system based on stock weight and provides a glossier look and feel.
At the same time, the mixed media' mode, optimises performance for unique jobs with mixed paper types from multiple trays.
The Docucolor 7000AP is also said to provide the same performance and image quality as the 80ppm Docucolor 8000AP, which has received an editor's choice award from Better Buys for Business, a research and analyst firm.
Xerox explained that the Docucolor 7000AP can handle a range of media, including carbonless forms, Xerox's Docucard and Documagnet stocks, labels, business cards, window decals and synthetic substrates, such as polyester, whilst maintaining image quality and colour management.
Marketing material, signage, postcards, direct-marketing pieces and other applications can be tailored to meet customer specifications, including variable-data content and produced at the system's rated speed of 70ppm, added the company.
The Docucolor 7000AP is claimed to provide 2,400 dots per inch (dpi) x 2,400dpi print resolution and digital screening technology that improves colour consistency.
The press offers tight front-to-back registration of + or - 0.5mm and prints two-sided jobs at rated engine speed without slowing down due to its 'race track' paper path, added the company.
Xerox said that it offers the choice of its Freeflow Print Server 6.0, EX Color Server powered by EFI Fiery, or the CX Color Server powered by Creo.
Each of the networked print servers - the workstations that process incoming print files and drive the digital press - supports variable data printing and combines that with colour management.
The Docucolor 7000AP also benefits from Xerox's Freeflow Digital Workflow Collection, a suite of integrated and modular workflow software that works with the print engine to help users connect with customers, reduce costs through automation and enable new applications.
The new colour press is modular to meet the needs of a variety of print environments, with users able to choose finishing options ranging from a single feeder and catch tray configuration to the full production option that features two feeders, a stacker and a booklet maker.
Other optional in-line automatic finishing devices are also available, added Xerox.
Xerox said that its productivity upgrades that enable the Docucolor 7000AP to run all stocks at rated speed are available for systems installed during this year.
Kevin O'Donnell, Xerox's marketing manager for iGen3 and Docucolor systems, commented: "No two print environments are the same.
Print providers have diverse production needs that vary from day-to-day and job-to-job.
But one thing our customers have in common is they want to print at rated speed regardless of the stock or job requirements." He continued to explain: "We continue to provide award-winning digital printing systems that offer the highest level of image quality, speed and flexibility to help our customers embrace digital technology to help grow their businesses and increase their profits.".
