Yupo Corporation America, the manufacturer of synthetic paper, has announced new capacity improvements to address robust demand for the company's synthetic papers.

Yupo Corporation America, the manufacturer of synthetic paper, has announced new capacity improvements to address what is described as robust demand for the company's synthetic papers at Labelexpo 2006.

The company said that as part of its continued growth strategy, it has made capital investments to improve the efficiency of its production line.

Those improvements will result in up to a 20 per cent increase in production output.

The increased output will allow Yupo to continue to ensure reliable supply and service and flexibility to its customers in the in-mould labeling (IML), standard labelling, commercial printing and graphic design markets.

Paul Mitcham, Yupo's national marketing manager, said: "We are experiencing tremendous growth due to increased awareness of the Yupo brand and its unique appeal and qualities.

Yupo is now regarded as gold standard in IML, its popularity has rocketed with graphic designers, and Yupo has continued to be widely embraced by commercial printers and label converters." Since its inception in 1998, Yupo Corporation America said it has consistently been a top performing growth company.

It has focused its expansion efforts on production efficiency and research and development to better serve its core commercial printing, packaging and labeling markets.

Yupo added that the expansion strategy includes capital investments in its facility in Chesapeake, Virginia (USA) along with additions to warehouse space and improvements to its ream packaging systems and secondary slitting operations.

The company has also expanded its product range as well, launching Accel, which features high gloss and what is claimed to be up to 80 per cent faster drying times.

Yupo also introduced a UV printable grade that requires no primer and a new line of synthetic envelopes in various sizes.

For the packaging market, two new IML grades, ISE 105 and super smooth IUE 105, have also been made commercially available.

In addition, Yupo added that it is planning new product launches for 2007.
